LOVERS POINT
Lovers Point is made up from 2 coves, the Inner Cove which is larger, has a nice sandy beach and is protected from swells by the breakwater, and the Outer Cove on the other side of the breakwater. Both go to the same place, so decide based on the current conditions. The main dive area is in 20-40ft and made up of a number of rock pinnacles. Just off the point is a great place to find the Monkey Face eel which is similar to a wolf eel. They typically reside in cracks and crevices that you wouldn't think they could fit.
Note: During the summer months of April-September divers are banned from Lover's after 11:30am Friday-Monday. Divers are allowed at all other times. You are also not allowed to leave unattended scuba gear on the beach. Pay attention to these rules as they are occasionally enforced.
Directions: Lovers Point is located past Cannery Row and the Aquarium at this intersection of Ocean View Blvd and 17th st. Parking is limited near the point and you are confined to 2 hours.
